Illegitimi non carborundum

Lately, life has decided to send several curveballs my way.

Without going into too much detail, job security and financial stability as well as career trajectory have all come to an unsure and scary fork in the road.

How do you work for your dreams when your dreams may no longer be a reality? How do you survive when large, dark waves keep crashing into you? How do you stay hopeful when it seems like all hope is gone?

Am I being dramatic? Admittedly, yes.

For being a person who prides herself on her flexibility, I'm finding my lack of control in my current environment distressing. I know and accept that I can't control everything; boy, have I been reminded o that fact this past week.

In contemplating all of the hardships I'm going through right now, I try to put things in perspective.

I'm in a MUCH better situation that MANY people out there. I am healthy and have a supportive family. Although I'm going through a hard time, I know there are others who are in the same situation as I am.

Life is hard, but I'm tougher.

I suppose my advice today would be to not dwell on the bad things that have happened to you.

Don't wallow in self-pity.

Get up and DO SOMETHING about it. I can do this and so can you!

*mic drop
